The Greatest Dane

Meet Missy! She came to Pawsibilities Unleashed with two other Great Danes after their humans split up. She underwent hours upon hours of Public Access training and overcame many obstacles from her early life. While training Missy we thought she would make either an excellent Therapy Dog or Service Dog. Well guess what? Now she does both! Read below from Missy's new handler, Sydney.

"Hello! I'm Sydney, from Orlando, FL. My last service dog retired unexpectedly (don't worry, he is getting fat and happy on my couch) and I had been looking for a suitable replacement ever since. Pawsibilities Unleashed was amazing from start to finish, from taking the time to get to know me and what I needed, to carefully temperament testing dogs and deciding if they would be a good fit. Admittedly, I gave their trainers no easy task: in addition to the usual hustle and bustle of Orlando, I also work in a locked psychiatric facility where my days (and patients) can be unpredictable. In essence, I needed a dog that was proverbially "bomb-proof". To add to an already tall order, the clock was ticking. While waiting to find and train a suitable dog, I was unable to safely walk for any length of time and needed to use my wheelchair. With my condition, the longer I stop walking for, the harder it becomes to ever walk again and I was concerned I was rapidly approaching the point where walking may become an impossibility. Right about the time I was starting to lose hope, I was told about Missy. I loved her right from the start and decided to call her Missy Moo, a pet name my mom called us as kids. Missy was trained for mobility work and after team training began working with me full time. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to Pawsibilities Unleashed; Missy truly gave me my quality of life back. Since Missy was cross trained for therapy work as well, we also conduct pet therapy groups in our psychiatric facility a few days a week. Missy has started to learn additional tasks during her time with me, including medical alert. All of the amazing work that Pawsibilities Unleashed put into her training shows every single day: impeccable manners, confidence, and excellent task work. Thank you Pawsibilities Unleashed!
