STOP focusing on Sit, Down, etc., and start focusing on self-control

Everyone is obsessed with Sit, Down, Come, etc., but in reality, these will not stop a dog from lunging, barking, aggressing, pulling, etc.

If your dog has no self control, its not going to sit while other dogs or people walk by. If your dog has no self control, it is not going to stop lunging at people, animals, etc.

A dog with self-control can stand and watch kids on roller blades, squirrels, other dogs and people jogging, or living in a normal every day world.

Self control is much more important than obedience. Manners and self control are all you need.

Obedience - Sit

Self Control - I will not lunge at other dogs, things that move, etc. I will calmly watch.

Manners - I will, "wait" until everyone goes through the door and have the self control not to charge it.

A dog that is trying to take food from your hand, steal stuff off counters, lung at other dogs, bark at everything that moves is a dog lacking in manners and self control, not obedience.

Focus on self control and manners, and you will have obedience.
